SafePak Partnership with QuikStor
Press Release
SafePak Corporation, the leader in PayStation technology, announces its alliance with QuikStor (www.quikstor.com), provider of management software to the self-storage industry. The two company’s collaboration will focus on SafePak’s new P10 PayStation. The P10 not only allows customers to rent spaces and pay fees with cash, check or credit card, but also dispenses padlocks. Buzz Siler, president of SafePak, is very excited about the future of the P10 PayStation and the new alliance with QuikStor. “I am extremely pleased that QuikStor has chosen to be the pioneer in introducing the PayStation concept into this industry. The advantage of the P10 is that its low-cost [$8995] gives even the smallest facility a quick return on their investment. In the future, PayStation’s will be the norm.”
Moving In
Interview with President, on the future of PayStations in the self-service storage industry.
“PayStation in the self-storage industry? It’s not a matter of if, its only a matter of when!” says Buzz Siler, president and CEO of SafePak Corporation, “The savings are so dramatic for the self-storage owner (in management costs), and greater convenience is offered to the customer, so why wouldn’t PayStations be fully incorporated into the industry?” Just what the self-storage industry response to the PayStation will be remains to be seen. With an earnest tone given to his enthusiasm Siler adds, “The proof will be in the pudding, our potential customers know that, and so do we.”
The proof the pudding will bring is something SafePak Corp will find out in the year ahead. Hopes are high, but not naively so. Excitement for SafePak’s PayStation has been over a year in the making.
One year ago, SafePak attended the Self-Storage Show to test the waters for the PayStation. They didn’t know if they had a market, but having already introduced versions of the PayStation successfully in the apartment industry, as well as other industries that take regular payments from their customers, intuition told them the PayStation would be very welcomed in self-storage as well. President, Buzz Siler, is confidant the self-storage industry will find the new P10 PayStation—SafePak’s model of the PayStation developed exclusively for self-storage facility owners-an exciting and simple, time and money saving option. When research into the development of the P10 first began both Buzz knew that whatever the self-storage industry needed, a SafePak PayStation could, and would be created for it.
Quickly after the first PayStation was introduced at the 2002 ISS Show, dialog began with several experts and long-time professionals in the self-storage field. SafePak’s first model was a strict PayStation, designed with only the capability of taking payments from existing customers. Interest in the product was sincere, and many were intrigued by the concept, but what was discovered from talking with industry professional was that additional features needed to be added in order to make the PayStation a viable time-and-money saving for self-storage owners. Veterans in the field of self-storage expressed the desire for a product that could in effect be a replacement for the manager when the office was closed. This dream product would be a device that could work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to literally take over both the renting out of new units and collection of existing rental fees.
To turn this dream product into reality, SafePak spent the last six months, and over $400,000, developing the new PayStation exclusively for the self-storage industry, the P10. The P10 is the fully functioning 24/7 manager they asked for, and once installed at a facility, either as a kiosk or thru-the-wall mount, it does more than dramatically cut management costs. Having a P10 on location raises customer satisfaction in two ways: It adds convenience for the customers and frees up time for the personnel to attend to customer service details, and devote time to tasks such as property maintenance.
The final ingredient that was necessary for the revamped PayStation was integration with management software produced by third parties so that data could be systematically recorded and organized for records and administration needs. The first management software company to step up to the plate was Quikstor, which began to work with SafePak in the months leading up to the 2004 ISS Show to bring out the full potential of the P10’s power as a reliable, 24/7 “manager” for self-storage facilities. After the Vegas show, other software companies began lining up at SafePak’s door to see how they too can be a part of the PayStation revolution soon to hit the industry.
SafePak’s primary methods of marketing the P5 Manager Series are going to be tradeshows and trade journals. “Tradeshows are our best tool,” says Buzz Siler, President, “because of face-to-face demonstration. Once people understand what the PayStation can do, and actually see it in person, they are sold. It looks beautiful and fulfills all its promises…. And after tradeshows, it’s trade journals, such as ISS, because industry professionals that can’t make it to the shows rely upon these publications to bring them up-to-date on the latest innovations in their industry.”
SafePak has big goals for the P5, and Buzz Siler’s vision for its integration into the self-storage industry is systematic. “The first year goal is to attract the pioneers of new technology, those forward thinkers willing to take a chance based on what the potential is, and to start building a solid track record in the field.” He continues, “Year two’s goal is to build upon that track record and attract those buyers who waited until the product had some history and experience in the field.” After strong acceptance and exceptional results have been established, SafePak third and final goal is to attract major corporations who own and franchise self-storage facilities to adopt the P10 PayStation as protocol, as the preferred procedure for renting new units and collecting dues. |
More than just Bank Equipment...
PayStations Bring New Business To Armored Carriers
Anywhere cash is accumulating daily, a need for armored carrier service isn’t far behind. Armored carrier work has traditionally been with banks and other financial institutions, ATMs, large corporations, and casinos. But the market is growing. With the advent of paystations, new business opportunities are popping up all over town.
The paystation is a remote mini-vault designed to collect customer payments at the customer’s convenience. Introduced to the self- storage and apartment industries this year, it is attracting attention in childcare, RV Parks, and elsewhere. The armored carrier business can be at the forefront of the paystation trend by introducing their services now to these new industries.
SafePak Corporation, in Lake Oswego, Oregon, built its reputation providing cash handling equipment in the financial industry and is well known by armored carriers. Now SafePak is also the current leader in paystation technology. They have just introduced several new models of paystations that not only provide customer payment convenience, but also link all transactions to management software. Armored carriers can pick-up payments directly from the paystation and receive an automatic manifest without management being present. Armored carriers can play an active role in helping to introduce the paystation concept, and simultaneously increase their own business and presence in the retail community. |
